Kia ora! I’m Jenny, an Aotearoa-based social media
strategist, specialising in channel strategy and
growth.


In addition to growing my own platforms across
different niches, I have more than 6 years
experience in the advertising industry and have been
lucky enough to work with brands including
Kiwibank, Chemist Warehouse, Suntory Oceania and
many more.


I run a book review Instagram account and Substack
on the side and w
hen I’m not working, you’ll find me
in a park with my nose in a book or, cuddling up
with my Cavoodle puppy Molly - ideally both.

    awards, and in 2024 we were tasked with
    creating a short-form video piece featuring
    their talent Jess Tyson, that would showcase
    the luxury and prestige of the event whilst
    still feeling fit-for-platform.

  • For their TikTok debut, Kiwibank wanted a fit-
    for-platform series as part of a wider Savings
    campaign. Using internal Kiwibank talent, we
    created a number of candid-style interviews
    that delivered valuable savings information
    whilst showcasing the people at the heart of
    the bank with their shared experience.

  • In a highly competitive market that’s faced with
    ongoing talent shortages and brain-drain, we
    turned to social media to launch the new Chemist
    Warehouse recruitment campaign. We used existing
    Chemist Warehouse talent across a wide range of
    roles and responsibilities to create a long-form
    and short-form content series demonstrating all the
    benefits of working for Chemist Warehouse.

  • V Energy briefed us to come up with some exciting,
    thumb-stopping creative for the launch of their
    latest Refresh subrange flavour: Blackcurrant &
    Yuzu. With a mix of native-content, influencer
    collaborations and higher-production, mouth-
    watering creative we launched this product with a
    bang in 2024.

Before retiring in March 2024, across
YouTube and TikTok (and then repurposed
onto the podcast: Matter of Crime,) I
covered content about true crime cases from
New Zealand, varying between long-form
deep dives of 45 minutes+ to short
soundbites for TikTok and YouTube shorts, as
well as true crime book reviews.


  • I ran my channel end to end including
    ideation, scripting, researching, filming,
    editing, thumbnail designing, SEO
    optimising, and distribution and promotion.

KEY STATS

After retiring from true crime I turned my hand to Bookstagram, curious to see
if I could grow an account from scratch in a niche I was unfamiliar with. As a
life-long avid reader and literary enthusiast, I knew this would be a niche I
could easily continue to make content for without getting burned out.


  • I launched my account on March 1 2024 and by January 1 2025 I had 18K
    followers. Most recently, I’ve expanded onto Substack to share book
    recommendations and essays and in 2025 I plan to launch a podcast.
